About us
WHO WE ARE
Buga Charity outreach got its operational license from the NGO Bureau on 17th December 2024, under Registration Number 9089. However its key promoters have been involved with community development for years in their individual and collective effort mainly supporting initiatives in the areas of childcare, youth productivity, afforestation, access to clean water, nutritional awareness and teenage mothers skilling/empowerment.
As a charity, we have already executed some interventions: clean water supply, emergency/festive season food donations, distribution of tree seedlings and skilling for teenage mothers.
Uganda has a very high dependency ratio with a median age of 15.7 to 16.9 years, 12.3% unemployment rate and a very low GDP where 16.1% (7 Million) of its citizens survive on about USD 1 (UGX 3,600) a day, with the following regions having the largest share of persons living below the poverty line: Karamoja- 13.4%, Busoga- 12%, Buganda- 11.0%, West Nile- 10.4%, Bukedi -10.3% and Teso- 10.1% (UBOS: Uganda National Household Survey 2023/24).
This effectively means that a sizeable population in the Country has challenges accessing the 6 basic necessities in life: Food, Water, Clothing, Shelter, Health Care and Education.
To us at Buga Charity Outreach, there in is the clarion call to action if the Country is to meet the minimum standards stipulated under the Strategic Development Goals- 2015/30.
Inspired by our core values of Equity, Empathy, Professionalism and Respect, we seek to mobilize individual, family, community, local and international support through cash, materials, equipment and knowledge to(sustainably) build the capacity of the vulnerable people in Uganda.
Our intervention is focused around 4 core thematic areas:
